Style

I so don't have a style.
I look through my gallery and everything looks different... I'm still developing it and experimenting I suppose. I mean, my Holga shots have a style because the camera defines the style, I go through phases of colours and themes, but none are coherent it seems. The only thing that's static is religion... given my agnostic beliefs I find that amusing.

My pictures look nothing like my inspirations, I look throught he pictures of the photographers that I find inspiring and they're all low-colour, dark, either very high or very low contrast. Then on the other hand theres the almighty LaChapelle but we'll discuss him some other time.

Oh well. It's better than reproducing someone else's work I suppose. I was flitting through Modelmayhem and keep seeing this photographer who endlessly reproduces the style of one of my friends (even to the point of poaching her regular models), except just really REALLY badly. You have to laugh I suppose.

I'm also a fan of Anne Rice (I'm currently reading Cry to Heaven), Dante, Mark Ryden and T.S. Eliot.

No, I haven't. I started out many years ago with the Vampire Chronicles, then picked up "Violin" and was severely disappointed. A cousin gave me nearly all her Rice books (hardbacks too) and I picked them up again. They'll be on my list for sure - which would you recommend I start with?

Start with "Exit to Eden" published under Anne Rampling, gloriously lurid erotic fetish fiction, stunning stuff. Aside from that, if you haven't already definitely read "Memnoch, The Devil". One of my favourite books of all time :)

I just finished reading "The Witching Hour" then went on to Pandora and am now reading "Cry to Heaven." I've got Memnoch, but was looking for a copy of "Lasher" so I could get through that saga while it's fresh in my mind.
